COMPANY HISTORY

ProTitle, Co. located in Maplewood Minnesota is a division of St Louis County Title, Co. in Duluth Minnesota, which was founded in 1972 by James F. Bodin, a partner in the law firm of Edwards, Edwards & Bodin. At this time there was only one other title company located in the Duluth area and there was need for an attorney’s title opinion to transfer title and ensure lien position for the lender. There was no title insurance given to lenders or borrowers at this time as both parties would rely on an attorney’s title opinion. The title opinion was given after a thorough examination of the Abstract of Title by Mr. Bodin and his staff.

In early 2002, St. Louis County Title Co was approached by one of its clients to open an office in the Minneapolis St. Paul area to accommodate their closings and provide the same great service they have grown to expect from our title company. After careful thought, consideration and planning, ProTitle, Co. was formed as a division of St. Louis County Title Co. to perform title and closing services throughout the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Mr. Bodin decided to name the new company ProTitle, Co. as he thought St. Louis County Title Co. was too specific to the Duluth area. Back in the day, title companies were often named after the county for which their services were performed in.

ProTitle, Co. grew considerably due to the markets and referrals from past customers who came to experience the high level of service we provide. Our accuracy and quick processing time made us irresistible to our clients and the word spread quickly. We continue to stand by our founding principles of accommodating our client’s needs.
